Rules for Having A Whale of a Time
Here's a "Fish Game" commonly played at parties in Denmark.
Place folding chairs in pairs around the room. Group the children into pairs. One couple becomes "IT" and are named "Whales." The other couples seat themselves in these chairs.
Each couple, other than the "Whales," secretly select the name of a fish. The whales wander about the room calling out from time to time the name of some fish.
Each fish called leaves his chair and marches after the whales.
If the whales call out, "The Ocean is calm," everyone leaves his chair and follows the whales.
When the whales call out, "The Ocean is stormy," all the couples race to get chairs. The left-over couple become whales.
This Danish fish game is surprisingly popular with young Americans.
